Design Systems
+ Component Libraries
Overview
Design systems and component libraries play a crucial role in unifying user experiences across platforms by establishing reusable, consistent design patterns. This section showcases my work in creating scalable systems, from designing modular components to implementing them in tools like Storybook. By focusing on adaptability, reusability, and collaboration, these systems streamline workflows for teams and ensure brand consistency, enabling faster product iterations and cohesive designs across diverse applications. Explore the processes and impact of these efforts on scalable and efficient product development.
Shareable Component Design
Sharing Is Nice…
To support scalability and efficiency in design and development, I created shareable components to be coded into Storybook, enabling their use not only in the Communications Suite but across the entire Scorpion platform. Each component was designed with adaptability and reusability in mind, ensuring seamless integration into workflows while maintaining brand consistency. This approach allowed teams to build and iterate faster, fostering a unified user experience. By prioritizing flexibility and clarity, the components streamlined the design and development process organization-wide.
Design System - CXC
Starting Things the Right Way
To establish the design system for the CXC platform, I created a robust library of components, each tailored for seamless integration into Storybook. By annotating each component with clear usage guidelines and detailed functionality notes, I ensured alignment across design and development teams. This system streamlined workflows, promoted consistency, and allowed for efficient scalability, empowering the platform to evolve while maintaining its user-centric design principles. The result was a cohesive, reusable framework that drove innovation and efficiency throughout the development lifecycle.
Design Library - DisneyNOW
Housekeeping…
As part of my work on DisneyNOW, I took the lead in setting up and reorganizing the design library in Sketch. I developed a streamlined system for reusable components, ensuring consistency across the app’s user interface while empowering the team to iterate efficiently. By creating scalable symbols, maintaining organized artboards, strict naming conventions, and documenting usage guidelines, I laid the foundation for a collaborative design process. This library not only enhanced workflow efficiency but also upheld Disney’s high visual standards, blending iconic branding with modern, user-friendly design principles.
